The ANZ Sail Fiji Race Management Team received contact from Steve Henry’s Iemanja this morning with news that they were retiring from the race.
“We are experiencing communications issues, so that’s one part of this, however our youngest crew man on board, my son Zac, is experiencing some severe sea sickness. With only three of us on board it was a safer decision to turn around and come home before getting too far into the race,” said skipper Steve this morning.
Apart from those issues, the crew are all ok and are happy with their decision to return home. They will however be flying to Fiji to enjoy the family holiday that this race was taking them too.
Congratulations to Iemanja on attempting to do this race three handed and for making the correct decision for their situation.
The Iemanja tracker will continue to follow them until they arrive in Kawau later today.
