Well its been a bit of a shake, rattle and roll day today as we are well into the ocean with new seas and a decent breeze of 20 – 25 kts from the NE. There is for sure nothing gentle about sailing a VO70 across the ocean…
we are laying up the rhumb line nicely at a good pace now and trying hard to chip in where we can on Beau Geste lead. We get excellent position reports (thankyou)frequently so can see each gain // loss, we are working hard to hang on to them, being 10ft longer BG is quicker particularly upwind, if we can ease off a few degrees then we can maybe keep pace and sometimes catch up a little. We were out East on our own but the big Black Boat came over to join us with a long port tack through last night.
The forecast for next few days is much of the same with this breeze largely staying in the NE, not sure we are going to get much ofthe real trades which would be where this yacht would surely excel and would be an awesome roller coaster ride.
Everyone onboard is getting used to life on an express train that is jumping around plenty so a few queezy tummies to deal with but all trying to enusre we drink and eat enough.
On the eating front then the bacon and egg pie went down a blast earlier today plus some mazing fruit cake and even a few rum balls for those feeling up to it. We certainly have plenty of food many thanks indeed to Kate Delegat.
Half the crew are asleep at the moment as i write this, other half on watch and getting wet on deck (except me of course as i am in dry nav station at the computer. Its hard but someone’s go to sit and communicate with the outside world)
I suspect our arrival in Fiji is a good 3+ days away at least so we push on and work hard to keep this machine at full chaff
Thats about it for today
Cheers from all aboard the great yacht Giacomo
