Just after sundown on Day 1 of ANZ Sail Fiji, Team Vodafone Sailing were forced to slow down to assess possible damage to the port arma.

Boat Captain Stuart Mackinven reported,

“We hit a submerged object with port foil, just after sun down. We gybed to assess the damage and we crawled into arma to check for case leaks.”

The arma was all ok but they did notice damage on the trailing edge of the Orma 60’s port foil.

Unsure if they hit a sunfish, iceberg or mermaid, the team made a decision that all was ok to continue racing into the evening and were sending it with around 26 knots of boat speed.
